In partnership with Suncoast Voices for Children, American Locker donates the manufacture and installation of lockers in foster care homes in the Tampa Bay area.
Largo, FL – June 26 — Entering foster care can be an emotionally challenging time for a child of any age. Removed from their families, schools and communities and moving into unfamiliar surroundings, they experience insecurity for their own well-being and concern for their personal belongings. When these children experience a theft, whether it’s a laptop or a bottle of shampoo, the message is reinforced that they cannot trust their surroundings.
To provide foster care children with a greater sense of security and control over their new space, Suncoast Voices for Children is partnering with American Locker and City-Wide Self Storage and Commercial Services. To give these kids a place to keep their personal belongings safe and in their control, American Locker is donating the manufacture and installation of lockers in all of the foster care group homes in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, which has the highest foster care population in the state. City-Wide Self Storage and Commercial Services is also partnering to donate the storage space for the lockers that help make this possible.
Suncoast Voices for Children provides for the unmet physical, psychological, educational, and social needs of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in the Tampa Bay area. It’s easy to understand how lockers can make a big difference.
Once installed, the children in these foster homes will each have their own Personnel Locker to store their personal items – the same lockers used by schools, gyms, hospitals, manufacturing facilities and corporate offices. They are constructed of painted steel and feature a keyed lock with 16 million, non-duplicative key code combinations. Best of all, they come with peace-of-mind built in. With these reliable lockers, Tampa Bay area’s foster care children can relax and get comfortable in their new space.
Suncoast Voices for Children is one of the few non-profit organizations that works on the front end to be the voice for every vulnerable child. They work with the Sheriff’s Department Child Protection Investigators, Case Managers, and other community partners to keep kids out of the dependency system, meet their needs while in the system, and give them what they need to succeed when they leave.
Suncoast Voices for Children receives no federal or state government funding, so the support of partners like American Locker and City-Wide Self Storage and Commercial Services are making a huge impact on helping them achieve their mission. Organizations like these are investing in a local cause that aids vulnerable children who have been separated from their families and helps prevent other children from becoming vulnerable.
