Using one of our parcel lockers is an easy, secure, and automated way to deliver and pick up goods and packages. Couriers and users access parcel lockers through a central kiosk with a barcode scanner and touchscreen interface. An occupancy sensor is installed in each locker compartment, which detects package delivery and notifies the user by SMS, email, and push notification. The consumer can then pick up the delivered package whenever they like, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Parcel lockers are the most effective way of ensuring that items brought to a building or facility are securely stored until users, such as tenants, are ready to retrieve them. This system removes the need for tenants to wait for couriers and reduces the risk of damage and theft.

Let’s have a look at how our parcel lockers work in detail.

How Do Parcel Lockers Work?

Couriers who have been verified gain access to the facility using a bluetooth fob that has been programmed with restricted permissions for the times and days when access is permitted. Any access that necessitates the use of the bluetooth fob is recorded.  The courier then uses the parcel locker kiosk to deliver the goods. The correct compartment opens automatically after the courier scans the parcel barcode, enters the recipient’s information on the touchpad, and picks a relevant parcel size.

Security cameras located above the parcel locker gather video and camera footage of all activity in the area, which is kept locally on an industrial computer inside the parcel locker kiosk.

Screenshots of touchpad interactions are taken and sent to a cloud server when the courier uses the kiosk to deliver a parcel.

An occupancy sensor detects the placing of a package in each locker compartment.

The parcel locker will only confirm delivery once the package has been detected and the locker door has been closed. This makes it hard for couriers or postal workers to claim that a package has been delivered when it hasn’t been.

The recipient is notified when the delivered parcel is detected, and an access code link is sent to them through SMS. The link creates a one-of-a-kind QR code.

Unlike other companies, who only provide users 48 hours to pick up their delivery, My Parcel Locker users can pick up their box whenever they like.

The recipient just scans the QR code at the parcel locker kiosk, which causes the appropriate locker door to open automatically.
